What was the catalyst for your migration journey to Australia?
I am a bit of a citizen of the world, having been born in Germany to army parents. I grew up in England, Scotland and then mostly Ireland before a brief sojourn in Italy and a two year pit stop in Greece. I then rocked up in Australia in 2003. My catalyst was a boy! I had a failsafe too, having a favourite auntie who had migrated here in the 80’s. Whilst the boy didn’t last, I did end up meeting my amazing aussie husband through our shared passion for motorbikes.
Australia really has been the land of opportunity for me, I have thrown myself into life here and haven’t looked back.
Tell us a bit about what you do and your interests
I manage HR and operations for the Australian business unit of an international engineering and geoscience consultancy, Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB). I love building connections with people and helping them to achieve their best.
When I am not in work, I am a motorbike riding, dog loving artist who loves the great outdoors. I love wildlife, and am never happier than when exploring and spotting some of our weird and wonderful creatures!
What excites you about your future in Australia?
I can’t wait to see what we achieve at KCB over the next 5-10 years, we have an exciting Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) and I look forward to being part of that growth. We have a talented team from around the world delivering innovative solutions for our clients.
Personally, I would like to progress my artwork and host an exhibition focused on the amazing native wildlife we have here. I would like to explore more of Queensland, and hopefully beyond as we hit 2022 and beyond!
